Hello everyone! If this is your first time coming back to my site in a while (and I don’t blame you, it’s been a few busy months for me and I took a break from writing!) it likely looks a LITTLE different to you. I changed my name, I changed my layout, and I changed my brand completely! Why did I do it, you may ask? Well, there were quite a few reasons. Here is why I completely rebranded my blog after 3 years of blogging, and what I plan to do with this space now that I’ve completely redone it!

COVID-19
Let’s be honest here. The main reason a LOT of things in my life have changed lately is due to COVID-19. When it came around last March, I’m sure NONE of us really knew what was to come and just how much it would impact all our lives. I had two Disney trips that I ended up cancelling, and in June 2020 I actually contracted COVID-19. I am one of the lucky ones who didn’t have too bad of a run with it, but it did leave me with lingering chest pains, weight gain, “covid brain” and occasionally weird neurological symptoms. Obviously I took a break from writing to deal with all these new developments in my life.
Not only did COVID affect me personally, but it really took a toll on the Disney community. Many projects that were in the works – and were going to be future subjects of my posts – were scrapped. Disney laid off thousands of employees and cancelled the college program, showing me just how much “magic” was truly missing from the company. I saw people I had loved to follow in the Disney community throw personal safety and social distancing out the window for the sake of a post. Without new content, I didn’t have much to say, so I fell into the background.
Do I still love Disney? OF COURSE! Will I still write about Disney? Absolutely! I still think Disney travel is one of the few things I am a huge authority on. Unfortunately, it’ll be awhile before I feel the magic is truly returned. I’ll keep up with the news, write some posts, and someday soon (hopefully December!) I’ll return to the parks! You best believe I’m stocking up on my handy Disney guides in preparation!
A New Following
This heading makes it sound like a Star Wars movie title, but it’s true! I discovered a new following of people to connect with during my time in COVID quarantine – TikTok!
I know what you’re probably thinking – a 30 year old woman like me has no business being on a teen app. When I made a few posts about being a vet tech over the summer, I never in a million years thought anyone would actually watch them. However, a few of my videos EXPLODED, and before I knew it, I had amassed a following on TikTok, joined the Creator Fund and as of this writing, I have over 24,000 followers on there! The majority of people follow me for my vet tech content, and that is what I provide! Can you believe I actually make more money on TikTok than I have on this blog in the past THREE years? Social media is amazing!
I was always hesitant to write anything on my blog about being a vet tech. On the one hand I love to give advice and client education, but I am also aware that I am not a vet. I am not the internet’s personal vet. Who am I to give advice? My following assured me, however, that they wanted to hear my opinion on animal care and being a vet tech. So I decided – why not incorporate that into my blog as well? After all, this is MY blog. It’s my personal space. Who says it needs to fit into just ONE niche??
So I decided to expand my website to provide more content. Over the course of the next few months, expect to see more articles on pet care, my personal experiences as a pet parent and vet tech, and so much more. I also plan on doing more blogging about crafting and cooking. Let’s be honest – it’ll probably end up with a Disney twist, because I have a very hard time NOT incorporating Disney into my crafting. But quarantine has reignited my love for making art, so it has also found a home on my blog.
This is ME
One of the biggest things I realized this year is that I am spending far too much time trying to fit in to one box. Yes, it may be easier for some people to “understand” me if I just stick to Disney blogging. But I am so much more than a Disney blogger!
I love to craft, and I also love talking about my job as a vet tech. I love cooking (not so much baking, though!) There are so many more facets of me than blogging about Disney. This blog is a hobby, not my business. I don’t NEED to fit into one category, because I am more concerned with you guys following me for me. Not just for my Disney content.
So What Does This Mean?
As far as my blog goes, I’ve already redesigned my layout. The Disney posts will still be present, as the majority of my traveling involves Disney. However, I will be expanding the categories I write about, and re-organizing some things on the site. All articles I wrote before will still be available! Posts will have individual email subscription rewards based on what that person was likely looking for when they found that post. Basically all my forms of social media will be a mix of whatever I want to post that day, but they probably WILL stick mainly to what I had them at before (example – TikTok is mostly vet tech stuff, Instagram is more Disney and travel, etc).
Life is also pretty crazy right now, so while I am going to try and continue writing and updating here, posts may be scarce. Trust me when I say I’m trying!
If you have any questions about my rebrand please reach out to me, I’d be happy to explain it some more! In the meantime – I’m excited to show you guys more of ME and my interests. Talk to you all soon!
