Review – Walt Life Subscription Boxes

October 4, 2018      Leave a Comment

I’ve been hearing about Walt Life subscription boxes a lot lately. I’ve had a couple of my friends share their link with me, and I’ve been seeing it on Pinterest and Twitter as well. Finally, after seeing and hearing about them for weeks, I decided to give them a shot.

**this post contains affiliate links! This means I may receive some sort of financial compensation from my recommendations. Please see my disclaimer for more information!**

The idea behind it is definitely intriguing. A subscription box filled with Disney Parks items? Sign me up! The subscription boxes contain regular Disney store items and Disney Park items. They also have boxes solely for Disney park snacks and Disney Pins. The more you pay, the more Disney Park merchandise you get (for example, the Magic Plus option contains 4 Disney Items and 1 Park Item – the Kingdom Box has 3 Disney items AND 3 Disney Park items).

When I went to the site, I saw that they had quite a few different options. You can sign up to actually have a subscription with them, meaning you’ll get a new box every month. If you want just a one time purchase, it’s $10 extra. I went with that option – JUST in case I didn’t end up liking it. You CAN purchase the subscription without worry, however – you can skip it at any time. Perfect if you’re like me and your disposable income changes from week to week.

Which Box Should I Get?

Personally I would not recommend ordering the Magic or Classic Box, which only contains 3 and 4 Disney Items. Notice I did NOT say Disney PARK items. The reason for this is because the items that are not Disney Park items can be found at any Disney store. The novelty of the Walt Life boxes is that you can get items from the parks delivered in a fun, mystery subscription box. Why would I want items I can get down the road at the mall?

I ended up going with the Magic Plus option. When you are checking you, you can select your gender and age. This assures you are tailoring the box to your specific needs and helps them determine what items they need to send you. This way I don’t have to worry about getting any wind up CARS merchandise meant for little boys or princess tiaras for toddlers.

Receiving the Box

Less than 12 hours after I ordered my box, I got an email that it had been shipped! Talk about great customer service!

And two days later, the box was waiting on my doorstep for me, and it was BURSTING at the seams. It definitely made me want to rip in to it ASAP! The box is customized by Walt Life with cute little Disney cartoons and emblems.

When I opened my box, here is what I found:

The Items

Mickey Mouse Cap

First item in the box – this super adorable baseball cap. This cap is REALLY high quality and seems very well made and is adjustable. The only problem? I have no idea when I might wear this. When I’m at the parks I am exclusively a Minnie Ears type of girl. Perhaps this will be a good cap for the summer if I’m doing outdoorsy kind of activities so I’ll hang on it to. It is REALLY cute.

Belle Fleece Blanket

Second item is this cute Belle blanket!

This comfy fleece blanket is embroidered with Belle’s picture and the words “Tale as Old As Time”. I opened it and unraveled it, and it’s HUGE! Perfect for this cold fall weather. My dog has already rolled all over it and claimed it has her own. This (and one other item) are tied as my FAVORITE items from this box.

Cheshire Cat Keychain

The third item was this keychain/coin purse. When I first unpacked this, I was kind of confused. How is this Disney exactly? It’s got the Millennial Pink coloring going on – which I love – but I was underwhelmed. Then, I turned it over –

And saw it was actually a Cheshire Cat keychain! My appreciation for this item instantly went up about 1000%. I LOVE me some Cheshire Cat. Still, I’m not sure I’ll use this as an actual coin purse. I will definitely attach it to my keys or my travel backpack at some point, though.

Castle Auto Decal

The fourth item was this car decal.

Oh heck yes. I LOVE this item. This, in addition to the blanket, is my favorite item. This was also the “Disney Parks” item included in my box. If you ever see a car with a ridiculous amount of Disney, White Sox, and dog magnets, that’s me. This will look perfect on my car and I can’t wait to add it to my collection!

Postcard

Finally, I got this 101 Dalmatians postcard.

I obviously will never mail this to anyone and will probably hang it on my cork board. After all it IS 101 Dalmatians, one of my favorite movies. However, I was a bit disappointed that THIS was considered one of my five items. It’s just a piece of paper at the end of the day.

BONUS! I got a little cardboard coin informing me if I collected all 8 Walt Coins I would be entered to win a trip to Disney. That’s definitely an awesome bonus to get people to keep subscribing! Who doesn’t want to win a trip to Disney?

There was actually an entire game board hidden in my box, and there was a letter on the back of the coin. If you spell Walt or Life you have chances to win! What a genius way to get repeat customers! Not going to lie – I’m tempted to keep purchasing because trips to Disney are not cheap.

The Final Verdict

All in all, I was very pleased with my first box from Walt Life! For my next box, I will likely try purchasing the Disney Snack box or one of the Disney Pin boxes. These will probably have more items that I will end up using as I look to start Pin Trading, and of course who doesn’t want FOOD. The box items fit my preferences – female over 18 – perfectly, and their fast shipping immediately made me trust them as a company that cares about their customer experience.

The cost was not outrageous. For $58 dollars I feel like I got a good amount of items – the cap and blanket alone probably come really close to that cost – although the Disney Parks item was a little underwhelming. I would have loved something a bit more tailored to the parks – an Epcot magnet or keychain, for example.

Finally, one thing I would have LOVED? A bit more customization for the holiday! It’s currently Halloween down at Disney, and I would have loved to see the Park item reflect that. Even if they had a holiday specific box that would be AWESOME!

These make great gifts for those Disney lovers in your life as well.
