Review: Mickey Monthly Halloween Box

September 30, 2019      Leave a Comment

Mickey Monthly Halloween

Happy Monday everyone! Today I bring you a review of another box from one of my FAVORITE companies – Mickey Monthly! I’ve been using Mickey Monthly for a while now and I have written reviews on their regular subscription box, as well as their pin subscription service. Today I bring you yet another amazing box – their Halloween 2019 edition box!

The Mickey Monthly Halloween Mystery box costs $75, with shipping and tax it goes up to about $85. Is it worth the cost? What items are inside? Let’s check it out together!

How It Works

There are only two options for the Mickey Monthly Halloween box – the traditional box for $75 or the snack box for $60. Naturally I picked the traditional box because I am hoping for more decorative items in my box. Even though we are headed to MNSSHP in a few weeks, I was hoping to get my hands on some fancy Halloween items before they all sell out!

Mickey Monthly Halloween

I purchased my box at the beginning of the month, and just like their traditional boxes, they did not process until closer to the end of the month, and it finally arrived on the 28th.

Unboxing

After weeks of waiting, my Mickey Monthly Halloween box was finally here! This was the first time I got a box that was designed with the Mickey Monthly logo! A silly detail I know, but my first box came in just a plain cardboard box, so this was exciting to me!

I instantly noticed how large it was compared to the other boxes I’ve received from them – that’s a good sign there’s tons of goodies in there!

And of course they put my absolute FAVORITE thing in the box – blue Mickey confetti. Once again, this is one of my only complaints with this box, only because it gets EVERYWHERE!

The Items

Once I waded through the sea of paper packing material, I found the first item – these adorable Mickey halloween lights! Initially I thought it was a wreath, but after reading the tag I found it was actually a necklace! The necklace is probably sold as gear for the Boo to You Parade, if I had to guess. I won’t be using it as a necklace though. I’m already thinking how I’ll be wrapping this around the Halloween wreath for my door!

The lights have 6 different light modes with various blinking speeds. They’re hardy plastic, so they won’t be breaking any time soon unless you really throw them on the ground. I would not use these outside but indoors, they’re going to be a great addition to my home!

Mickey Monthly Halloween

The next item up was Dracula Mickey. This is a decent sized plush that is a great addition if this box were going to a child or tween. As an adult, I’ll be using this as part of my Halloween decor! How could I not? Look how cute he is with his cape! The cape has detailing with a candy pattern as well. How adorable!

The final item was this adorable Poison Apple candle holder. You can place small candles or the fake candles (called tea lights) in here for an eerie twist on the Jack-O-Lantern! In my initial unboxing I thought the lights were my favorite item but upon further review, I think it’s the apple! The back of the apple says “Just One Bite” and is a huge hit in this house where we love Snow White!

Was It Worth It?

Since it is a limited edition holiday box, the price tag on this subscription box is obviously much higher than Mickey Monthly’s regular subscription boxes. Just based on the price tags of this type of merchandise in the park, I’d say it was definitely worth the $75 I paid – I could easily see these items being worth that much, if not MORE.

I would have enjoyed smaller items in the box as well, as opposed to three big ones. Maybe a keychain or kitchen magnet – or even a small bag of candy! I know they have the snack box, but I think it would have been a nice surprise throwing a cookie or two in the box as well. Even a sticker from Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party would have been nice!

Mickey Monthly Halloween

As always, the items arrived in pristine condition. I like that the items are not “typical” Disney souvenirs. I would have seen the necklace and thought “oh that’s cute” but probably never actually BUY it myself. Same with the apple candle holder. Most guests head straight for the ears or cute backpacks at these parties. This assures that Disney fans from out of state get access to even MORE magic and check out items they might not have purchased initially!

I cannot wait to use all these items in my apartment this year to decorate. Halloween is tied with Christmas as my favorite holiday – and this box helped add a bit of excitement to the upcoming holiday season! I can’t wait to find the perfect place for Dracula Mickey, and have the kids in the neighborhood check out the poison apple while trick or treating!
