Subscription boxes are all the rage right now! Its not hard to see why – who doesn’t love getting automated shipments of goodies in the mail? What’s even better is when they’re Disney themed! There are two prominent Disney themed subscription boxes out there right now. I’ve already reviewed Walt Life subscription boxes, and today I’ll be reviewing Mickey Monthly!
Mickey Monthly has popped up on my news feed a LOT. I know a lot of bloggers who absolutely adore them and do reviews of their boxes every month. This shows that they have staying power and provide a quality product. If these bloggers love them enough to get them every month, that automatically makes me trust them more! I finally decided to try them out and headed over to their site to set up my first delivery!

Select Your Box
In addition to Disney items and Disney Park item boxes, there are snack boxes, FUNKO pop boxes AND Disney pin boxes! If you’re not sure which one you want, they even offer a quiz to find the right box for you! They truly offer as many options as they can to get you the best box for YOU.
The theme park box is what I was interested in, and I was pleased to see there were multiple sizes. Fairy, Mickey, Castle and Kingdom boxes all contain different amounts of items and start as low as $29.99. They offer skip a month feature if the box is just not in your budget this month, AND free membership to Mickey Travel Club, a Disney travel service. This is a great extra feature if you would rather someone do your booking for you. They also give out monthly prizes, and each box gets you one entry.
Despite the fact that it is easy to skip the month, I went with a one time purchase which is also available. I selected the Theme Park edition box and was then able to customize it! I put my age, selected the gender and then specified if I wanted snacks, items, or a combo. Naturally I selected combo, because I loved that I was able to get items from different departments in ONE box!
Holiday Box
One thing I really loved about Mickey Monthly was that they offered a Mystery Holiday box! I LOVE holiday items from the parks but since I don’t get to head there during holidays very often, I don’t have much access to those items. Thankfully this box helps me out! For $75 you can get a mystery box of Magic Kingdom holiday items. PERFECT if you’re big on holidays and looking for a unique present!
Delivery
I placed my order and paid, and then I got the confirmation email for my order. I placed my order on November 19th, and due to the volume of orders they get, they have set dates that they send them out. It says on the listing that orders placed before the 20th will be shipped on the 24th, however I didn’t get any email with a tracking number until the 27th. It also said in the welcome email that orders placed before the 20th will make it to you before the end of the month.
Well, I didn’t get my order until December 6th. Honestly, I forgot I even had it coming a few times. I was in no rush to get it, but I was a little disappointed that they gave me specific dates on when it will be shipped, yet it took much longer than that to get to me.
When it DID finally get to me, I didn’t even know what it was at first. It came in a plain box with a Mickey Monthly sticker on the side. That was it. No cute little blue box as advertised on some of the photos in the store. Again, not a HUGE deal, but a bit disappointing.
The Items!
Let’s be honest, a plain box or slow delivery aren’t my big concerns – I wanted to see what was in the box! I opened it and…
Oh. Oh no. No no no. I was immediately turned off by the way the package was packed. These little paper things get everywhere. Literally everywhere. I’d been hoping to use the box to package some Christmas presents, and getting all that confetti out of it was an absolute NIGHTMARE. There are so many other options for packing material that I feel could have been used.
Once I waded my way through all the paper, the fun began!
Goofy’s Candy Company Licorice
I love Goofy’s Candy Company! I know in my heart it’s probably mass produced candy just repackaged with Goofy on it, but I still think it’s some of the best candy out there. There was a bag of tiny Mickey head shaped licorice bites, and since I like licorice, I thought it was a great addition! I know licorice is a very polarizing candy though, so others might not have been as thrilled. One plus side of this item as well is the fact that this bag seems to be unending. I’ve been working on it in small handfuls for over a week now and it seems to still be close to half full!
Snow White Shoe Magnet
I love this magnet! I think that magnets are a great souvenir because they’re cheap and small, but still powerful, reminders of all the fun you had on vacations. Needless to say, I have quite a few. This Snow White ornament looks ADORABLE on my fridge. I’m not a fan of the shoe ornaments Disney sells but shockingly, this was one of my favorite items from the box! It’s decently sized as well so it’s actually functional.
Magic Kingdom Mug
WHOA! I was NOT expecting something this large in my box! The Magic Kingdom is my favorite park, so it was fitting that I got this mug. It’s very sturdy, holds a TON of coffee, and fits nicely in the dishwasher. The perfect Disney mug – but aren’t ALL Disney mugs perfect, really?? It’s very cute and I thought it was a great idea to include something like that in the box.
Disney Socks
These socks take Disney fandom to a WHOLE NEW LEVEL. Chris and I spent a good five minutes looking at each side of the sock – and yes, each side is different – and picking out all the Disney characters! This made total sense to include in the box. It has SO many characters, even more unknown characters (look, it’s Kuzco!) so it’s bound to appeal to just about everyone! The gray side has Disney characters, and the purple side has villains. Look at some of those deep cut villains! Pain and Panic! The Siamese cats from lady and the Tramp! The Big Bad Wolf! These socks are seriously SO fun. I can’t wait to actually wear them!
The Final Verdict
All in all, I was very pleased with my box. I loved the items I got, and I like that I was able to do a mix of snack items as well as souvenirs. I would definitely look in to doing the Holiday box (perhaps not this year as my bank account already hates me this holiday season, but maybe next year!) and I want to try out the other speciality boxes they have. I’ll probably look in to getting a subscription once I pay off this Christmas bills!
The shipping was a bit slow for my liking, but as I said above, that wasn’t a make or break issue for me. Same thing with the packaging. While I was really NOT a fan of how the box arrived to me and all the paper packaging, all my irritation melted away as soon as I started to open all the items.
So, looking for the perfect holiday gift? I highly recommend Mickey Monthly for all the Disney fans in your life! You can customize the boxes for each person to give them something that is truly meaningful.
