A hobby that I recently got in to during my last Disney trip was pin trading. I bought a starter kit and that was great for my initial start up, but I knew if I was going to take it seriously I needed to build my collection and FAST! I’ve written about Mickey Monthly before and talked about how they have an amazing park product subscription box. In addition to having park items shipped to your house, they have options for different kind of boxes. One of those options is the Pin Subscription box! Today I’ll be bringing you a Mickey Monthly Pin Box review so you can determine if the box is right for you and your family!
I decided to give it a shot and signed up for the Pin Edition Mickey Monthly subscription. I figured this was a great way to get my pin collection started. Even if I didn’t like the pins I got – that’s the whole POINT of pin trading, right??
Here is my Mickey Monthly Pin Box review!

Options
Signing up on the website is super easy. Under their Subscription Boxes tab, you’ll find multiple options to sign up. The cheapest option at $11.95 is the PinPro option. You will get one authentic pin a month, along with a lot of exciting extras. For $17.95, you’ll get two pins, and for $23.95 you’ll get three pins. This is the option that I selected. It should be noted that while these are authentic pins, they do NOT come with the black backing you get when you purchase them in the stores.
If you’re very serious about pin collecting, you can get the PinCollector option. This is for die-hard pin collecting fans! These subscriptions get you access to LIMITED EDITION pins as they come out in the parks. This is great if you want to get your hands on limited releases, but don’t live near the parks. As you might suspect, the price tag is a bit heftier on these subscriptions. For $29.95 you’ll get one limited edition pin a month. For two pins, you’ll pay $49.95, and for $69.95 a month you can get three pins. These pins DO come with the backing included.
Once you sign up, you’ll be charged monthly until you decide to cancel. I did end up cancelling my subscription this past month, not because I didn’t like it but because it was simply not in the budget anymore. All I had to do was email their customer service. I started the research for this article back in March with my first order. I received a monthly order up until June when I cancelled.
My Review
After I signed up for my subscription, I waited patiently for my first shipment. You are charged on the 1st of every month. However, you do not receive your pins until about midway through the month. I assume this is due to the fact that they have to curate a ton of orders each month, in addition to their other subscriptions. So just be aware that it will take about two weeks for your order to get to you.
My pins came in an adorable little envelope with a Mickey Monthly sticker on it. I couldn’t wait to open it – until I remembered Mickey Monthly packs their packages with Mickey shaped confetti. I love the attention to detail, but it gets EVERYWHERE. Fingers crossed they cut this out in the future. That is my ONLY complaint about their packaging. Otherwise, it’s on brand and matches their logo colors perfectly. No giant box wasting resources on a few small pins!
Not only did it come in a cute package, but they included a card for me since I was a new member! Rather than just a billing statement, they put thought into making sure they knew how much they appreciated my business.
Each of the pins came packaged in tiny, light blue bags. These bags show you their attention to detail. Each pin is perfectly packaged just for you! Plus, the added excitement of ripping open the bags to see your pins is great!
The Pins
After taking my pictures for this post, I could hardly wait to rip in to my bags and see what I got!
The pins from my first box ended up being from the 2019 series. Each pin featured a member of Mickey and the gang and the year 2019. While I probably will not keep these for my personal collection, these are EXCELLENT pins to trade when I go to Disney for my next trip! Most of the boxes I received followed this same sort of theme. All the pins are from the same series, or very close to it. Keep reading to the end of the post to see all the pins I got at the end of my subscription!
Each pin was also an authentic pin as promised. They all had the Mickey head back, as well as the official stamp of authenticity.
As I said above, the other boxes that I received all followed a similar pattern. They came packaged in the same blue envelope, and the pins all followed the same sort of theme, or as close to it as their current stock would allow. Some of the pins I will definitely be keeping for my own personal collection – like the amazing Cheshire Cat one I got! The others will be amazing for trading, and will hopefully help me build up a great pin collection to display someday.
The Final Verdict
Honestly, if funds were not an issue I would TOTALLY keep this subscription box! Even if you get just one pin a month, it’s worth it if you’re looking to build a collection. It can be hard to get into pin trading using just the starter sets in the park. This also has the added excitement of not knowing what you’re going to get. Will it be a pin you save for your own personal collection? Will it feature your favorite character? Little kids will LOVE the excitement of opening their envelope each and every month!
Mickey Monthly is by far my favorite Disney subscription company – and I’m very impressed with their pin subscription box. Next on my list? I want to try their snack box!
