Be Our Guest Restaurant Review

March 3, 2020      Leave a Comment

be our guest restaurant review

Be our guest, be our guest! Put our service to the test! When I first heard that Disney was going to be opening up a restaurant modeled after the castle from Beauty and the Beast, I was ecstatic. The Be Our Guest Restaurant was one of the newest expansions to Disney parks this past decade. Fantasyland practically doubled in size, and the reservation demand for this new restaurant was off the charts!

To this day, Be Our Guest remains one of the most popular restaurants in the Magic Kingdom. They are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner – dinner even includes character dining! It is worth it trying to get a reservation here, though? Getting a reservation requires waking up super early, or possibly spending two dining credits on one meal. It’s a high price to pay for the chance to eat in the Master’s castle – and is it worth it?

Here is my review of Be Our Guest restaurant! We have eaten here many times in the past, so here’s my rundown of the food, the atmosphere, and more!

The Food

In my opinion, the dinner menu is a bit too fancy for your average kid or teenager. If you’re an adventurous food lover who wants to try some delicious French food, you will probably find something to enjoy. Personally, I like the breakfast and lunch menus better!

I am OBSESSED with the Croque Monsieur that they serve here for lunch. For being a technically quick service dining option, the sandwich is still very well done and comes with a side of fries and a dessert – which is when you can get the famous “grey stuff”.  You definitely get a ton of food for your money! If you’re feeling fancier, there are many soups and loaded salads to fill you up, but are still light enough to enjoy on a hot Florida day! As for the “grey stuff” – spoiler alert, it’s chocolate mousse. But still delicious!

If you’re not on the Disney Dining Plan, you may find the prices a bit extravagant. I personally think almost $30 for breakfast is a bit much, and it’s more than double that for dinner. I personally cannot justify it when there are many other affordable breakfast options. However, you are paying mostly for the experience of eating in the castle. So if that offsets the cost for you, go for it! The dinner menu is fixed, meaning all the meals are the same price – children are $37 and adults are $62.

The Setting

One of the best parts of this restaurant is that there are three immersive dining rooms. You can dine in the Ballroom, the West Wing, or the Gallery. During lunch I personally like to eat in the Gallery because it is usually less crowded (also note this room is not usually open during dinner). Even if you don’t dine in the West Wing, definitely check out the enchanted rose that is the main attraction of that room! You’re able to get up and check out all the other rooms, just be mindful of those parties that are actually dining in that room!

If you’re dining for Quick Service meals, you simply pick an open seat once you have your buzzer. You can request a specific room at dinner however be aware this may affect your wait time.

Flexible Dining Schedule

Be Our Guest is unique in the sense that it has two different options for dining. If you want a quick service experience you can book for breakfast or lunch, whereas at night the dinner offerings turn in to a Signature character dining experience! If you have extra meals to burn, you can use this as one of your 2 dining credit options on the Disney Dining plan, or you can pay out of pocket. Quick service meals apply during the earlier meals, which may make more sense with your travel plans. No matter what, you can make Be Our Guest work for YOUR schedule and still get to experience this beautiful restaurant.

Getting dinner is usually a hassle and requires you to get up as soon as the dining reservation line opens up. If you’re dead set on getting a reservation here, make sure it’s one of the first ones you snag! However for lunch and breakfast (which DO require reservations most days, unlike most other quick service restaurants) you may sometimes get lucky and get a dining reservation later. We were even lucky enough to get a last minute reservation for lunch just a few days before during one of our trips!

Character Dining

Calling Be Our Guest a “character dining” experience is honestly a bit of a stretch. The Beast is there and you have the opportunity to take a picture with him – however, he does not come to your table like other character dining experiences. However, you aren’t able to meet the Beast anywhere else, so if he’s on your to-meet list be sure to experience dinner here at least once on your trip! Unfortunately for princess lovers Belle does not meet guests at this dining experience – she’s too busy entertaining guests at Enchanted Tales!

So despite being a 2 dining credit dinner, the 2 credits mostly applies to the fact that the entrees are lamb, filets, and more – it applies more to the food than the characters.

The Verdict

So, would I recommend Be Our Guest? It depends on what you’re looking for! For one of the best quick service options at Disney, it’s definitely one you should check out. As far as dinner goes, I can definitely pass if needed – especially since my favorite aspect of character dining is the characters, and it’s lacking in that department.
