5 Must Do’s at Epcot – Future World

September 20, 2018      Leave a Comment

I think the thing I love most about Epcot is how much there is to do there – after all, it’s basically TWO parks in one! Future World is located at the entrance of the park and contains most of Epcot’s thrills, whereas World Showcase is an experience all it’s own. I’ve already discussed my list of MUST DO’s when it comes to World Showcase, so it’s only fair I outline my favorite things in Future World as well!

Spaceship Earth

Spaceship Earth is the attraction hidden inside the giant “golf ball” you see upon entering Epcot. It’s a slow dark ride with rotating vehicles highlighting all the advancements mankind has made over the centuries. If you’re a history buff you’ll definitely enjoy this one. The line may sometimes be around 45 minutes long, but it’s a nice break from the Florida heat, and despite being one of the older attractions the animatronics aren’t all that bad (thanks to sporadic renovations throughout the years). Once you disembark you’ll be greeted by the Project Tomorrow experience. This interactive exhibit lets you explore the innovations of the future and is a great place to let the kids unwind!

Test Track

If you ever wondered what it’s like to be a crash test dummy, then this is the attraction for you! Buckle up as you get in your vehicle and are transported to the world of automobile safety testing. This ride simulates the testing new cars go through, including terrain testing, brake testing, and of course – SPEED! This ride ramps up the power, reaching speeds of 65 mph! Even if you’re not a big thrill ride buff, you’ll enjoy this ride. It never gets TOO crazy and the curves at top speed are very smooth.

In addition to the ride itself, the pre-show of the ride allows you to build your OWN car to test after the ride! At the end of the ride you’ll see how your car held up against others. You can choose everything from the RPMs to the color and decals to make it your own! Personally, my sister and I like to make the most ridiculous cars we can. You can also play around in interactive exhibits with your car (linked to your MagicBand, of course) after the ride!

Living with the Land

This ride hardly ever has a wait and is a nice relaxing boat ride through the gardens of Epcot. This ride showcases all the scientific advancements Epcot is working on to promote more responsible farming. One of the coolest parts of this ride is that a lot of the food you’re seeing is used in The Land pavilion at the Garden Grill!

In this day and age, sustainable farming is extremely important, and this attraction really opens your eyes to how important it is to feeding the world. It’s an educational attraction, but still very interesting and entertaining and I highly recommend it.

Soarin’ Around the World

Soarin’ is an extremely innovative ride and one of my personal Disney favorites. You sit in a long glider type vehicle that faces a large screen, simulating the sensation of hang gliding. Disney thought of everything with this one – the smell of the sea as you’re flying over the coast and the wind in your hair make you feel like you’re really there! This ride unfortunately has one of the most notoriously boring queues, but they’ve renovated it to include more activities to keep you occupied. Just remind yourself you’ll see Patrick Warburton doing your on boarding video and you’ll be able to tough it out!

Due to the popularity of this ride I definitely recommend a Fastpass or trying to go on this immediately upon park opening. Even during Extra Magic Hours, you’ll be waiting at least an hour to board. It’s 100% worth it, though, so even if you can’t get a Fastpass, load up your phone with games and get ready for a long wait because you don’t want to miss this Disney masterpiece!

The Living Seas

On the same side of the park as the Land pavilion, you can find the Living Seas pavilion. The theming is centered around Nemo and his friends! So this pavilion gives you the opportunity to explore marine life with a little Disney twist. This is also the home of The Seas with Nemo and Friends, a dark ride that takes you along with Marlin and Dory as they (surprise) look for Nemo. The cool aspect of this ride is the REAL fish tanks that have animations projected on them making the ride all that more realistic! The Living Seas is also the home of Turtle Talk with Crush, an interactive attraction where Crush from Finding Nemo actually talks back to the audience!

This is also the home of one of my favorite Disney restaurants, the Coral Reef restaurant. You can dine on delicious seafood while viewing the giant fish tanks of the Living Seas from your table. Check out more info on it here.

Epcot is a park all about innovations and learning – and all of this attractions certainly fit that mold. There’s even more fun on the way as Disney continues to make updates – including a new Guardians of the Galaxy ride!
